Alumni

Paul mobilized a dozen Brown students in the summer of 1986 to transform a garbage-strewn lot in the South Bronx into a neighborhood park. He was one of the first undergraduates to take full advantage of the newly opened Center for Public Service and remembers, “We couldn’t have done it without the financial backing of the Swearer Center and the credibility that gave us.” Paul went on to help create a community center in an abandoned warehouse in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx, winning a prestigious Union Square award in grassroots activism for that work. Most recently, Paul was tapped as the chief of staff for Bronx Congressman Jose Serrano.
