Introducing
Social Innovation Initiative Research Teams

Comunicada
Lizzy Gore (lizzy_gore@yahoo.com)

Overview

Comunicada is a small, brand-new NGO founded and run by women grassroots leaders in Masaya, Nicaragua. We aim to fight poverty and gender inequality by working with groups of women through microfinance, business development, sustainable agriculture, domestic violence support groups, and civic participation. We are committed to a different kind of development-- one in which women discover their own power as leaders, rather than receive aid as clients.

Join the project!

Lizzy Gore (the U.S. Coordinator of Comunicada) will be leading a trip from January 5-15th to Masaya, in which students can meet members of the organization, visit project sites, and help develop a strategic plan for this young organization.  There will also be a summer trip.  Locally, we've been considering creating a local partnership with sustainably-minded farms and restaurants to fund our "Chickens Changing Lives" project, and are having a used laptop drive.
