Charity Water

October 27th, 5-7pm

As part of the "Meet the Entrepreneur" lecture series, Brown's Entrepreneurship program presents: Lane Wood is the Water for Schools program director. He has been connected with charity water since the beginning. Water for Schools is an initiative to get students involved with charity:water's work. Water for Schools is a campaign to raise awareness and funds for water projects at schools in developing nations. Lane will be at Brown talking about the history of charity:water and stories related to their organization's impact. Following Lane's presentation, there will be an opportunity to interact with Lane and get involved in helping Brown's Water for Schools fundraising initiative. Rhode Island Business Plan Competition 2010

Information Session, Oct. 29th

The Rhode Island Business Plan Competition will host a Kick-Off meeting on Thursday, Oct. 29, to introduce and explain the 2010 competition - and help prospective applicants prepare to compete for more than $130,000 in prizes. The event, which is free to the public, will be held 5 - 6:30 p.m. at the Rhode Island Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Providence. Pre-registration is required.

Do Something Awards 2010

Applictions due December 15th, 2009

The Do Something Award (formerly the BR!CK Award) identifies exceptional young social entrepreneurs, activists, and community leaders who have significantly changed the world for the better. We celebrate young world-changers who are the pivotal "do-ers" in their cause, issue, or field and empower their work through community grants, knowledge, and support. For 2010, five winners will be selected. Each will receive a minimum of $10,000. One of those five will be selected to win the Grand Prize total of $100,000. Applicants must be age 25 and under and citizens or residents of the U.S. or Canada.
