The Social Innovation wants to recognize top leaders at the University who have contributed extensively to projects on social change through the SII Senior Fellow award. Five upper classmen will be selected to serve as the face of social entrepreneurship at Brown, provide guidance to other students, and foster relationship with alumni.Nominations and self-nominations are accepted for application: please e-mail Alan_Harlam@brown.edu

$50,000 Business Plan Competition
Sunday, April 26th 1PM, Wilson Hall 102
Brown's Entrepreneurship Program and the Social Innovation Initiative have partnered to host a $50,000 business plan competition. Two rounds of judging will be held and the top six teams will be selected to present their ventures publicly on the day of the competition.The winning teams will also be able to send their business plans to the Annual DFJ East Coast Challenge, where a $250,000 prize will be awarded. Remember, the audience's vote will help determine the final winners of the Entrepreneurship Program business plan competition, so bring your friends!

 

Economics and Global Health: Innovative Approaches to Global Health Lecture Series

Sponsored by the Brown International Public Health Coalition, this event examines the intersections between economics/social entrepreneurship and global public health. There will be two interesting speakers, Ed Wood from the Clinton Foundation and Michael F. Maltese from the Legatum Center at MIT that focuses on social entrepreneurship.

A program of the International Youth Foundation , YouthActionNet® seeks to develop a new generation of socially conscious global citizens who create positive change in their communities, their countries, and the world. Each year, 20 exceptional young social entrepreneurs are selected as YouthActionNet® Global Fellows following a competitive application process.

Summer Internships in the Amazon with Brown Students' Social Enterprise: Agroforestry & Community Organizing with the Runa Foundation
The Runa Foun¡dation is offering summer internships with need-based financial aid to students who wish to gain hands on experience in agroforestry, community organizing, and fair trade business developing in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Runa is a budding social enterprise founded by Brown students Tyler Gage, Dan MacCombie, and Charlie Harding that follows a Market Driven Restoration model of forest conservation and sustainable development for indigenous communitiee.

Volunteer for a summer in Haiti
Project Racine is a social enterprise in Haiti that partners young adults in Haiti with college students and young professionals in the US. Project Racine is looking for Brown students to get involved with their projects. During the summer, participants gain hands-on skills in sustainable agriculture, effective leadership development, micro-business development, community organizing, and cross-cultural exchange.
