Students Launch Social Entrepreneurship Network
The Swearer Center hosted a reception on May 23 that brought together more than fifty students and alumni social entrepreneurs to learn more about each others’ work and to launch Brown’s Social Entrepreneurship Network (SEN). The highlight of the program were short presentations from ten of the founding members of SEN about their projects. Brown Entrepreneurship Program Awards Emma Clippinger ’09 its Top Prizes
Emma Clippinger won top prizes in the Brown Entrepreneurship Program annual Business Plan Competition for her community gardens initiative in Rwanda, Gardens for Health with over $30,000 in cash and in−kind services from the EP First Place Prize and $5,000 in seed money from the Swearer Center for the best Social Entrepreneurship entry. Caitlin Cohen ’08 Named One of the Top 9 Youth Activists in the USA
Caitlin Lee Cohen, a 2008 graduate of Brown, has received a $10,000 Do Something Award for her work on health systems development with government officials and slum residents in Mali. Cohen was selected from over 1,000 people as one of the top nine activists under the age of 25 in the USA. One of the nine Do Something Award winners will be selected at the Teen Choice Awards to win $100,000 for their cause.
