The Department of Children, Youth and Families provides a list of licensed day care providers in Rhode Island, a potentially useful resource for adults seeking child care options.

Crossroads Rhode Island (formerly Travelers Aid) - housing, vocational and related services

OpenDoors (formerly the Family Life Center)  resource center is a provider of Access to Recovery services in Employment, Housing, Transportation, and Life Skills. In order to be eligible for the program, you must be on probation, and your cause for arrest must be related to a substance abuse problem. You must ask your probation or parole officer to refer you to an assessment to qualify for the program.

Dollar General's 2010 National Literacy Directory

The web-based directory contains more than 8,000 listings. Visit the directory to search for program listings, or click the "Feedback" link on the homepage to add a program listing. Information from the directory also can be accessed through a toll-free number that people can call 24 hours per day, seven days a week, to get a local program referral in English and Spanish.

 http//www.askri.org  has new databases and a new web design.  Of particular interest for our field is Mango Languages with ESL
 Language courses in 15 languages and 22 foreign language courses, the Adult Education and Career Center in http://tutor.com/ (they critique resumes), and Learning Express Library with learning centers for GED prep, job search and workplace skills, jobs and careers, skill building for adults, US citizenship and lots of practice tests  and tutorials.

Amos House - The Amos House Literacy Program has moved to the Providence Housing Authority Education and Training Building at Codding Court. Our new address is 144 Dodge Street; phone (401) 228-6640.  Amos House Literacy offers ABE classes and provides academic support to our students as they progress through the National External Diploma Program.
